NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Where gets the best light? What's the size of the space I'm working with? What are the safety hazards? What do I want to grow?

These were the some of the questions I asked myself starting out my design. Deciding to build an at home farm system is a committment. I will have to spend time tending the crops, monitoring and cleaning the system, and making sure the area is sanitary and safe.

Since I'll be working with water, I need to make it a priority to identify any electrical safety issues. GFCI outlets are typically in kitchens and bathrooms where there's the chance it might get wet because they will shut off the electrical connection if that happens. Since my system is in the living room I'll need to get GFCI adapters to plug in the lighting, air pumps, and water pumps

Ideally, I'll want to change out the water reservoir every 1-2 weeks, so keeping in mind what my access to water will look like, I decided I would fill up my reservoirs in my tub since it fits the buckets easier than my kitchen sink.

There's some natural lighting that comes in my windows but honestly, a lot of my house plants don't look too hot, so I'm concerned if it's enough light. Also, my partner doesn't like to keep the blinds up as much, and I might forget to lift them sometimes, so to cut away that error I'll need to supplement the lighting.
